What happens in Counselling?

Our Counsellor is a professionally registered therapist who works under a code of ethics and is regulated by BACP to ensure professional practice.

A note from our Counsellor..

Counselling is not about ‘telling you what to do’ or simply ‘listening’—it's a collaborative process. At The Cove, you will be given a safe, confidential space to express your feelings without fear of judgment.  We will work together to help you process emotions, and when appropriate, explore practical ways to manage challenging situations and reframe unhelpful thought patterns.

I will listen with empathy and regularly check in with you to ensure that I understand your experience. Your comfort and progress are a priority, so we'll work at a pace that feels right for you. When helpful, I will offer strategies to support you navigate difficult emotions and life challenges.

I am an Integrative Counsellor.  This means that I am trained in several different approaches and will adapt my work with you according to your needs and preferences.  This may flex and change throughout the course of our work together, but I will always check in with you to ensure that we are working in a way that is helpful and manageable for you.

My core areas of training are in Psychodynamic, Humanistic and Cognitive Behaviour Therapies. For more information, click here.
